Default 1996 F150 Project

Hi, I am new to this site but not ford trucks. I have had a 93, 95, 2007 and 2012 f150. Due to changes in life (marriage, wanting a house etc lol) I sold my 2012 and found it hard and inconvenient living without a truck.

So I purchased this 1996 f150 from a local farmer for $500. It has 81000 miles, straight 6, MAF, e40d, skid plates, auxillary springs, quad shocks and 3.55 LS gears FRONT and rear. This is how it sat the day I drove it home:

It needed: rear springs and hangers, at least 1 new tank, rear brakes and lines, front and rear bumper, oil pan gasket, tune up and passenger side outer door handle and body work (which will done last, once its on the road). I have my old 93 as a parts trucks which had new springs, hangers and a good rear bumper. I already had rear shocks. I purchased a front bumper and rear tank with new upper straps exhaust, axle vent, some pre bent brake lines, e brake cables, diff cover and sway bar bushings.

The first thing I did was clean it. The interior cleaned up very nice and is in excellent shape. Getting the box off was a nightmare haha. After rounding out 3 holes we welded nuts to each carrige bolt and that did the trick. Since the box is off I started there and will move my way forward. Here are some in progess pics:

I will update with more progess and pics this weekend. Thanks for looking!!

Looking good man. Red interiors are hated and underrated. I love mine.

Thanks! It's coming together slowly. It's amazing how much stuff keeps on getting added to the to do list. Which is just more time and money lol.

The red interior and axles pretty much sold the truck for me. I've always wanted a red interior and xlt so this is perfect for me. I'm gonna paint the speaker grills on the door panels black. I think that will look better.

Thanks! These are my favorite body style Fords but this is the biggest vehicle project Ive ever done, so it does feel a little daunting sometimes. Just noticed the passenger side rear cab mount bushing is squished so I will at least be replacing the two rear bushings...ugh lol. Heres a pic of the exhaust (before the clamps had been tightened so its still loose). Also got the rear sway bar and bushings back on.

Got the exhaust clamps tightened and the rear bumper from my old 93 on. I backed it into a stump (i think, that was at least 10 yrs ago) and tweaked it which kinda sucks but I'll worry about it later.

I have to agree with you but I average two people a year who ask me if my 1991 is for sale. They usually tell me they had a relative who had one years ago and had fond memories in the brick nose

nnero, nice looking truck, I'm sure its going to run and look great when your done
