Default 1996 F-150

I recently went to a local truck accessories store with a friend while he shopped for his truck. I decided soon thereafter that I would like to add some things to my truck. My only problem is I don't know where to start, because I'm fairly new to customizing my truck. I've considered a body or suspension lift, but don't know the pros and cons of this. I also thought about step rails for my truck. Any new ideas are certainly welcome and any comments about my previous listed ideas are welcome. I basically want some ideas for my truck. I understand that there may be more information yall will need. Just ask and I will answer. I have about 500 dollars to work with right now and will soon be getting a job. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site!

Give us a little more info on what you're after - some guys go more towards performance, others more towards looks, then there's always the stereo enthusiasts.

You can find many items on eBay, for your truck. I have bought many things for my truck on eBay and have yet to be disappointed. The black step bars on my truck were found on eBay and I installed them myself. If my memory is correct, I think I paid aroung $125, with shipping. Good hunting!

Well performance and looks are definitely way higher on my list than the stereo. That's not an issue at all. Between performance and looks I would rather have my truck run great than look great. But looks are still important to me. I'm going to make a trip to the salvage yard Monday or Tuesday to look for step bars and a brush guard. If that ends up not working out then I will for sure check out Ebay. And I will see what i can find on google.

And I'd still love to get some opinions on lifts. Thanks.

sry forgot to talk about the lifts...ok if your going for just the looks then i recomend a body lift, there easier and cost less. If your goin for performance then go with the suspension lift. There are alot of good lift kit manufacturers...just shop around and choose one that you think is right for your truck.Rough Country and skyjacker are among the most popular.

Alright thanks for that. I'd also like to ask how much of a lift I should get. As in how many inches I should go? I don't want to draw a lot of attention but at the same time I want something that's going to look nice.

try looking at different lifted trucks with different size lifts then choose the one that would complament your truck. you can get suspension leveling kits which just level up the front and rear. Or 2-4in which is not to much or too little. Also look into getting bigger tires with the lift.

Alright I'll do that. I was thinking about 4 inches would be good. Maybe 6 at the most. But that's just based on my observations so far of what I want. Yeah I will definitely need some new tires. If you don't mind I could certainly use some advice on tires too.
