for more info on your trans it is a borg warner t18 if you google that you'll find the gear ratios, this is the same trans i have love it , if you find a 5 speed with a granny i would take it but only if it has a granny driving my brother truck 5 speed with out granny isn't as good for towing even with a straight 6

You're going to need the harness and computer to switch to maf of course. If you can find an early 94 w/ maf, that should work. late 94, 95 and 96 they went to the 302 HO which has the 351 firing order.
Shouldn't matter if you do the whole swap but if you just stuff a newer 302 in with your old system, watch what you buy.
You can always change the cam in the 302 HO to a regular 302 cam which will have the same firing order as you have now.
Other thing on the full conversion to MAF/automatic will be the transmission - if the donor vehicle for the harness has E4OD you'll probably want to stay with that, but if the truck it came out of has the 4r70w, you'll want that.
And stay away from 96 for a harness, then you'll be into OBD2 and you'll probably need a course in electrical to fit that into an 89.
Jumping back and forth a bit there, but there's some info in there somewhere.

All of this is some good information. Kind of a date leap going from 2009-Today. Not sure if the OP is still an active member, but it should definately help others who are contemplating the swap.
