Mine has the 302 and it seems to be alright. Climbs plenty of hills and throws the mud. I wouldn't attempt to pass a long line of traffic in it though (I know, that's illegal and I shouldn't try it anyways). I wish the previous owner would have put in 4.56 gears rather than 4.10s though.

This truck has a 351w in it..I haven't driven it much due to the tranny issues.Yesterday morning I changed the tranny and as always I have a problem,(FORD and their lets change some things around so people have a hard time finding parts) I don't know why they do this, but anyways I will sort it out.I am sure with even the 351w and 35's it will be lazy but I will fix that once I get to it.I will be going with atleast 4.56 gears. If that dont do it I will pull my engine out of my mustang (351w) and that will do the trick with a cam change and convert over to carb...I can see it coming now. These electronic shift trannys,fuel-injection,computers,etc are really getting on my nerves.

Hey douche i have a 302...drive it everyday and my mom's 3.7L has 5x more power. You have to turn off the blower motor if you wanna pass someone. I haven't even topped it out yet cuz i can't find a road that's long enough.

LOL!!! Just stirring you up. I have no issues at all with passing or with power with the 351 and original 3:55 gears. I do have to turn the O.D off since it seems to get confused when to engage at high speeds.

I have a few stangs here that I beat on...The one with the 351w is an '83 coupe. It has a stick in it and runs 10.80's on a 100 shot and goes 11.60's on motor. The wife has a 91 hatch with a stick and a 302 with a little head work,e cam and dual plane intake and runs 12.30's...not too shabby...I also have a 93 coupe,93 hatchback, and an 86 GT.I am vehicle poor..lol..

Well i had it out for a run today and it works pretty good.Just need to get an alignment done now and put in the extended brake lines.Starting to come together now, just have a few more things here to get done and it's ready for the test.I will post pics after we take it on a mud run.LOL...Thanks to all for the help on the tranny issues. The tranny I put in had a different connector on the shift pack solenoids,so I pulled the one out of the original trans and it worked fine.I also changed the vss to be sure.I am going to do some dual exhaust on the weekend and fix the rear swaybar links. She's almost ready for the 38.5's now after a gear swap...

wheels and tires
Well I got some dual exhaust on in the past few days and I also put on a set of 38.5/14.5/16 TSL Thornbirds(used) and a set of procomp 1079 wheels..The truck looks great and sounds good too now. After this weekend I will have it ready for the road.Starting to get excited now...lol

That's a sweet beast!!! It's kind of like my '88 F250 beast but I'm having issues with keeping it running. I think I narrowed it down to the fuel pump (hopefully!). What size tires were on it before the lift?
