1995 F150 - Transmission Shifts Rough
Transmission is auto 4 speed. I have had the transmission flushed, and looked at but they can not diagnose the issue without charging a ton. When it shifts, it makes the whole truck shutter and I am afraid it going to fall out one day. Any ideas on what to look at. Anything that I can adjust to see if it helps?

is it after runnin the truck for a while and its warm cause my tranny shifts real hard and i was told my external tranny cooler might be bad to just replace and if its not that its the electronic shift modual

most likely the problem i said with the electronic shifter i have to shift mine at high rpms when it gets warm so most likely yours is just simply the electronic shift

Is your truck fairly new to you, or have you recently performed any maintenance that would cause you to have to disconnect the battery? It takes quite a few miles for your truck's computer to "learn" your driving habits. Though many people think the computers on the older trucks don't do this, in all actuality it does.
I bought a 95 F150 about 3 months ago and it took about a month for it to learn my habits, I am fairly heavy on the accelerator and it took a while for the E4OD tranny to realize this and smooth out the shifts at higher RPMs. I also went out of town for a while, and my wife drove it a bit to save miles on our newer car. I noticed a difference in the feel of the truck after my return and it is still getting used to my style again.

My wife has had the truck for years, and she said it has always shifted rough. I though it was a linkage issue, so I have looked at it but cant find an issue. Im not much of a transmission guy so I dont know where to go from here.

i had my codes read on my truck at a tranny shop and the guy said it was the speed sensor located on the rear and that when that goes bad it causes eratic shifting the machine showed it right on the screen im puttin the new speed sensor in tomorrow if it fixes it i will keep you posted

The RABS sensor on the rear diff will cause some of those issues. The VSS on the tranny itself will do the same.
This may sound silly, but mine was doing the same thing awhile back - not all the time, but every once in awhile, felt like I got rear-ended when it shifted. I replaced the ground leads off the battery with 4 guage wire (starter lead and core support lead), and added a ground from the neg battery post to one of the throttle body bolts. That made my tranny shift like silk... of course I had replaced the RABS and VSS previously with some improvement on both sensors.
