Default stalling in reverse

i got a 92 f150 with the 5.8 when put it reverse it idles down really low and shuts down it does it sometimes in when i put it in drive but it has no real pattern of doing it just does it whenever it wants to. so what do you thinks wrong with it. and one other thing, the frount tank doesnt want to pump gas to the moter i can hear the pump turn on so again i dont now what is going on.

Have you checked the idle air control valve to make sure that it isn't plugged up? You can take it off and try cleaning it to see if that helps any at all.

I had a taurus that had similiar problems and it was a combination of a gummed up idle air control valve and a bad temperature coolant sensor. The temp sensor was causing it to run rich thinking it was always cold and the fan would never come, without an electric fan though you'd have to have the codes checked to confirm the sensor.

Pulling codes will help as well to give you a direction of what to search.

IAC, TPS, Dirty injectors, Ignition system needs attention.
