Default 1994 F150 engine swap mods?

I own a 1994 f150 flareside 5.0 with 195,000 miles and am wanting to do an engine swap with a stronger 5.0. Any suggestions on the upgrades I can make on the donor motor I plan on building from scratch and make it stronger with minimal electronic upgrades? I have been told I don't have a programmable chip in this model ad hypertech only sells a mod chip and not a programmer for it? I want it to be a daily driver but still have plenty of extra horsepower to play with. Any help ya'll have will be greatly appreciated. Especially since i'm trying to do this on my own on a limited budget

The problem is, the engine lacks MAF sensor air intake flow monitoring & sequentially fired injection. This allows the ECU to monitor and balance the individual cylinders. The lack of these two components severely restricts performance mods your engine will accept (Like a more aggressive Cam) gracefully, regardless of which electronic monitoring/controls you disable (which is shooting yourself in the foot to begin with). In a nutshell, if you convert your engine to MAF, which will also get you SFI, you can really go nuts w/ performance mods that will easily share a Symbiotic relationship w/ the ECU. The lack of MAF/SFI is the only reason you can't get a Programmable Performance Chip for it (See any connection there?) This is what you do to a MAP engine in lue of performance chipping:http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/show...ht=timing+bump My 87' 302, has excellent acceleration & 18/23 MPG. I can do 85 mph (A/C blasting)w/ a Harley strapped to the bed for over 700 miles nonstop (both tanks) w/o breaking a sweat and still get approx.19 mpg. I haven't even gotten around to doing the MAP to MAF conversion yet! Besides a K&N drop in filter, the rest of my engine is stock.

Default 1994 engine swap

I own a 1994 f150 flareside. It has 195,000 miles on the original 5.0. I recently purchased a '93 flareside that had a 5.8 in it. Are there any significant modifications that must be made to make this swap possible? Will my existing ECU work with the new 5.8 or must a complete swap of ECU's have to occur? Other than the ecu are there any other changes that must be made before attempting the swap?
