1993 f150 extended cab xlt
so as of now i drive a 99 toyota rav 4. and im getting passed to me from my grandpa his old pickup its a 93 f150 extended cab xlt 5.0... a few weeks ago i got a ticket and my mother will no longer pay insurance i now will have to pay insurance.. im going to sell the rav and just drive the truck since i really dont have to far to go each day. but i had heard insurance for a truck would actually be cheaper than for a car like that. anyone know for sure? oh and i needed to add. i dont want to get rid of it because this truck has memorys. before he passed we replaced the headgaskets and it runs like a beast. and also i know theirs performance chips. is there any that would help the gas mileage aswell?

Just call me sean. Really
Chips on OBS fords are scams. The computer systems aren't advanced enough. That being said, I'm 20, carry liability and property damange insurance, and pay $50 a month on my truck.
Gas mileage will 13-14 in town, 17-18 on the highway. My straight 6 gets about 16 all the time no matter what lol

Thank you both very much. I kinda figured that about the chip but wasn't for sure and I'm glad the insurance should be alittle cheaper... I will upload a picture for you to see as soon as I take one.. its black and has the regular ford rust but its a truck

The only time a cat will cause a loss of gas mileage is if they are clogged. Removing them is a violation of federal law whether your state does emission testing or not. Try the sixliter tune up and replacing the "Y" pipe and cat back exhaust with high flow components. Remember to use OEM quality tune up parts. Synthetic lubricants and low rolling resistance tires might help too.
My Nelly Belle (truck in sig) gets 16 Mpg on my commute and 18 at a steady 70 Mph. Although I expect it to drop now that I put on the BFG 31" KOs from the 235/75/15.
YMMV

i got true dual straight pipes. not legal because i dont have cats or a muffler and state law requires a muffler but i've never been pulled over. i suggest you get a couple 12'' glass packs for it. i got a couple of them on my bronco and they sound good

On my old 83 302 I used a Walker "Y" pipe into a 3" high flow cat, Walker Hemi Turbo muffler and a 3" pipe that exited in front of the rear wheels. I wanted to go with a Magnaflow but the Walker was half the price. The 3" pipe happened to be old stainless steel schedule 40 that had been replaced at work and couldn't be reused even though it was used for only water. The system sounded great and performed better. Eventually I replaced the 2v carb with a 4v (real bitch with the AOD linkage) advanced the cam (had to do the timing chain any way) and it stayed that way until rust finally got the last word at 220k and had to junk the truck.
