1993 4x4 U-joints
I’m trying to remove the middle front u-joints. Anyone got special techniques they had success with? I got the ball joint press on, but with limited access to get behind it, I can’t clear a larger impact. Thanks in advance for the wisdom.

Don't use an impact driver on a ball joint press; turn by hand only.
It's possible to pick the E-ring off the Right stub axle through the front diff's fill plug - I've done it several times. Read this caption & the NEXT few:

The Right axle assembly can be pulled out the Right steering knuckle after the spindle is removed. Then the U-joints can be changed. The pics & captions in this photo album explain how to get the spindle off:
