Default 1992 F150 door latch cable broke

1992 f 150 drivers side door latch cable broke. How hard is it to replace cable? Does the door latch itself have to come off? Thanks

Yes it does this happened to me but passenger Side... There are 4 bolts to remove.. 3 at the door latch where it connects to the cab.. And one on the handle it's self. And you also need to remove the key latch rod and manual door lock rod before removal. It takes about 30 mins to a hour. Need any more help just ask

Do you happen to have any illustration on how this is done? Why do I need to remove interior handle?

Is this something a person should try that has little mechanical knowledge. What could go wrong?

I had to do it to my truck when I first bought it. Its not very hard. I don't remember exactly how I did it but the hardest part was attaching the latch side of the cable. The handle side was easy. But I don't think I moved to much stuff to make it easier.

And what could go wrong? Your truck could implode. But its not likely.

what could go wrong? Right now the door opens from outside. If I mess with it and take off latch and cant get it back on right, then it wont open from outside either. That is my concern.

The cable only actuates from the inside. The outer handle is hooked with something else, so no cable just means no inside handle. My driver door wouldn't open from the inside for the first two months I owned it until I bought and installed the cable.

Default 1993 F 150 Driver's Door Latch

Watching the video
As it says, Keep the three rods in one hand as you remove the latch. I had to let go of the rods to disconnect the electric door latch motor. The rods fell out. I think I have them back in the right way but....... In the video it shows a different kind of spring at 6:28 I do not have. My spring looks like the type of spring that holds the top of brake shoes together in the rear drum. I do not see where my spring attaches. It fell out too. So my 30 - 60 minute job has got me stopped in place. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!!!
