I bought my 4.9L F150 last wednesday, replaced numerous parts on the truck to make it run better. Once I changed the fuel filter, it gave a little to much compression in the cylinders and blew the head gasket. Tore it down and removed the cylinder head, cracked all the way to the valves on cylinder 3 and 4, 3 out of 12 lifters are collapsed, lower intake manifold broke part off the hole mount off.

My Plan - rebuild

Im looking to get some new lifters,rods, rockers, cylinder head, lower intake manifold, eliminate smog pump,P&P upper intake, Ram Air Cold Air Intake.

I also have 2 .63 Trim Turbos sitting in my backroom, has anyone ever turboed their inline 6? or twin turboed for that matter? I do not want to swap out the engine for a V8, I want the torque for towing my customers cars.

Any part sites you guys know of would be greatly appreciated.

I have been searching the internet for links to 4.9L6 parts and found a website which looks to have some of the parts you might need, Cliffordperformance.net. As far as turbocharging I have not seen any links yet with the 4.9L6 but would like to see this done. I have plans on building another 4.9L6 for my truck, maybe with some radical mods. I could build a V8 quite a bit cheaper but I want to build the 4.9L6. Keep us posted on your build!

good site, mainly for Carb applications. My truck is fuel injected. Got a new Cylinder head with out Smog, new lifters, new valve train. Im going to clean up the rockers and the rods. New lower intake ordered and sent for Port and Polish along with the Upper intake. Designing a smog pump eliminator to toss the remaining smog pump stuff. Fuel injectors may have to be upgraded to higher flow rate per the 12psi unless I go twin and up the psi to 24, then 36#/hr injectors will be needed if not 42#/hr. Once I get the Upper intake back I am going to make a CAI to feed the engine for right now until I finish the turbo build.
