1990 Where's the ECM?
it's not above the gas pedal, I've looked everywhere. where is it?
It's not the little gold box, and there's nothing next to it except 2 weatherpacks running to a plastic dust cover.

You have to access it from the driver side firewall behind the front tire. It slides out of the firewall towards the tire.
remove the plastic fender liner, and pull that sucker out after removing the clip, and retaining bolts/nuts.
It is technically behind the aluminum steering column mount on the far driver side, not the kick panel.

yep...that is surely a problem.

Here is a good one. After taking my ECM out and taking it to the parts store, I find out the ECM is a high altitude model! So a pickup that was sold in Texas was fitted with a High Altitude ECM...no wonder the pickup has never run right!

...might want to double check that if you haven't already, only the map sensor controls altitude on these older trucks

I wish it were an older model without all that computer controlled stuff on it but I am sure that if it were working properly I would never give it a second thought!
