1990 Grinding on accel assuming T-case?
Hello, I have a 1990 F150 300 6 4wd, When the truck warms up on acceleration theres a grinding sound which I assume is the transfer case. The things that I know
1. Doesn't make the noise when front hubs are locked
2. Only does it in 2WD
3. Doesn't get louder, same volume regardless of the amount of throttle
4. Doesn't grind when cold.
5. Sound goes away when letting off throttle. Does it even at the slighest amount of throttle.
6. Drive shaft chatters in reverse sometimes.
Any ideas? Another thing I thought was slightly odd. The T-case shifter doesn't go to the side, as shown on the shifting diagram on the ****. Just a straight pull from 2H to 4L I have an 89 with the same case, and the shifter comes down 2 and goes to the side. Not sure if it's an issue or not.

Drive like you stole it
The drive shaft chattering is probably worn u-joints. Fix that and see what happens. Drain the t-case and see what comes out. If it's grinding you should see metal.
