Question 1990 f150

I just bought one, and it seems pretty good, runs well and everything.
Only problem, is it won't start on the front fuel tank. The engine will turn over like its about to start but won't. As soon as i switch it to the rear tank it starts right up.
I just filled up the front tank, so i KNOW theres gas in there, i mean, the gauge even says its full..

Any ideas on why it's doin it?

BTW, its the 5.0L v8 XLT Lariat, and it IS fuel injected.

Been a long time since I worked on one of those, but I think each tank has it's own pump and one on the frame. Someone chime in and set me straight if this is wrong. I know that there were MANY issues with wire contact problems to do with the pump on the frame, though that one should be fine if it runs on the one tank. My bet is on the one in the tank that won't run. You might check the fuel hoses to that tank also, see if it is kinked, etc.

'87-'89 has the pump on the frame and one in each tank. The '90 has one in each tank only and it sounds like the front one is bad.

Well, any ideas on how much a fuel pump costs?

I talked to the ford dealer around here and he was sayin about 400 or so..
And i DEFINITELY don't have that kinda money..

And personally i think that price is a little steep for a fuel pump.

I'm only gettin about 150 miles or so on my front one, so i'm having to fill up every 3 days or so, and that kills my wallet.

What do you mean priming?

When i turn the key on the front tank it turns over, quite a bit.
and keeps turning over until i stop the key, the truck just wont start.!

put the selector switch to the front tank. Turn the key to the on position if you here a buzzing noise then your pump is running. TRy on your back tank first so you will recognise the noise. But it does sound like your front pump is bad

Alright thanks.

I'll try it as soon as i get off work and let y'all know.
Normally i wouldn't be bitchin about such a small problem, but i'm gettin my hours cut and can't afford to be fillin my tank every few days. Not exactly cheap :/

I'd say about $150 on average as well.

$400 was the price you would pay the dealer after he got boning you.
