Default 1990 5.0 won't run

i was driving down the road and it just stalled out like it's starving for fuel.

i have since replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, tps sensor, plugs, wires, cap, and button.

the engine will crank and run very rough if you play with the throttle, but just dies other wise.

however it will run if you spray starter fluid in the intake, so i don't think it's a matter of spark but possibly what ever controls the injectors?

what steps should i take to fix/diagnose the problem/s?

well i thought i was going to. i was trying to use my volt meter set on continuity with a lead going to the positive terminal on the battery and the other going into the self test out slot. and with a wire going from the self test in directly to the negative battery terminal. then i turned the key to the on position. is this not right?

you dont really need the voltimeter either, you can just jam a paper clip in as the jumper, and count flashes on the check engine light

check for any vacuum leaks, they can cause the map to read bad. not sure if you can test the map itself or not. try unplugging it and see if anything changes.
for the TPS http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=30 test that out. TPS can cause havok on the whole truck
