I had to store my '89 XLT Lariot for a couple months. I put fuel stabil in a full tank.

When I cranked it the fuel gauge will not register. All was fine when I parked it.

What do you think?

Fuel level sending unit, common problem. But you might get lucky if you leave it, the scraping of the sensor as the fuel sloshes around and goes down might make it work again.

i drivin it around quite a bit thinking the same thing as you. no luck so far!

so what's next? drop the tank and remove all that fuel pump assembly stuff or is it easier than that?

just keep it full and keep an eye on the millage. but yeah that's what your going to need to do if you want the fuel gauge to work again i think you can just switch out the faulty sensor that's all not the whole pump
