1989 f150 not shifting into park
Hi all, thanks ahead of time but i went into town this morning with the temp at around 5 degrees with a wind chill of -20 . and when i when to put it in park the truck wouldn't go past neutral . i was able to shut the truck off and able to get her home but i don't know if its in the column or in the transmission. the transmission is a c6 with nothing special just replaced not even 100 miles ago. the warranty just went out 5 days ago . but i cant remove the keys from the ignition with it in neutral, is that normal? and btw the ignition wont turn back all the way.
the trans will shift into n,d,2,1 but not reverse or park

Check the shift lever on the side of the transmission, make sure it isn't hanging up on something. Unless the gear selector is in park it's not supposed to let you turn it all of the way off, safety feature.

Have you been driving it in the ice and snow? Not sure if you guys got hit very hard. There could be a build up of ice that is preventing it from moving forward. Might want to take a look under it first. Make sure you chock the wheels so it can't roll.

i wonder if the metal piece inside the trans above the valve body has jumped the stud. that happened once when i replaced the neutral safety switch. but i wouldn't think it shift at all

I get 12-13 mpg, 95% in town driving, once in a while a 40 mile round trip to lowes @70mph.
If you have an extra set of hands have someone gently try to raise the gear selector while you push the shift lever in the proper direction, may have to have them move the selector while you watch to get the proper direction but I would assume it would be toward the front of the truck.
