Well, if it's not there, I think you probably found your leak :-). Otherwise, it should be on the passenger side in the back where the transmission hump meets the firewall, right near where the exhaust manifold connects to the headpipe.

I got a '88 4.9 with a manual tranny, I don't have a dipstick. Instead on the tranny there is 2 big screws on the driverside. The top screw i was told that you unscrew it and stick your finger in there when it is cool. If you get fluid on your finger it is good, if you do not get fluid on your finger you need to put some in. So if you cannot find a dipstick i am guessing that yours is a manual also. If you cannot find what your leaking and don't know where it is leaking from. i like to put a huge peice of cardboard under the front of your truck, then it is easier to find the leak and realize what the fluid is. Also if you smell the fluid or wipe a white piece of paper in it.
