1986 ford f150 fuel problems
i have a 86 f150..302 auto..4x4 with fuel problems.it runs fine when i pour gas in the throttlebody.the high pressure pump runs but the intank pumps dont do anything.its a dual tank.i 12 volts staight to the wires coming from the front tank and still nothing.it had red-black-orange-i cant remember what the other one was.lolany info is highly appreciated.

So, you tried putting 12 volts straight to the fuel pump and got nothing. Is that right? If so, it should run but since it didn't my first guess would be a bad tank ground. No ground=no run. You could hook everything back up, turn the key on and try grounding the tank by hand (maybe rub a wire between the tank and the frame) and see if you hear the pump turn on. See where that leads.

IIRC the black wire on the connector is the ground wire, follow the wire harness back until you find where it attaches to the frame. BTW I had trouble with the power feed on my connector on my 94. It was corroded and dropping voltage.

update ..got it running..it was the in tank pumps was rusted apart.wiring was off of them on the inside of the tanks.i installed a new pump in the front tank and it runs like new again.i thank everyone who helped with were to look for the problem.the truck needs to be driven more than it is.its just we have so many to drive and this is in rough shape..its really only used to clear the driveway in the winter with a snowblade.but anyways its back to running.thaNKSagain guys.
