Opinions on auto tranny leak
long story short i looked under my truck and noticed a trans leak, and of course the fluid was low. so i double checked the trans pan bolts just to see if there were any loose, of course some were even with only 10fl-lbs torque. after tightening them, i thought maybe i'm getting some additional leakage from the T/C "cover" so got a bottle of lucas trans stuff added that and topped off the ATF with dex 3/mercon. Well it still leaks some, so what i'd like the "opinion" on would be since i only got 40 miles on the truck now since i took ownership, should i let the lucas work alittle longer as it states it stops leaking seals? or just do the pan filter and gasket and see if that clears up the leak. its hard to say if the front tranny seal is leaking as the oil pan plug has a drip, so maybe that's blowing back making the t/c cover look "wet" it's dirty underneath so determining fluid color makes that spot hard. as far as the trans functioning it seems fine, occasionally alittle higher revs in first, i wouldn't say it's a hard shift into 2nd, reverse shifts are smooth and no klunks. additional history on this truck is the previous owners seemed very meticulous on upkeep. although they stated they only drove it occasionally which was during bear hunting season so maybe 2 weeks outta the year. i know sitting around can't be good for seals or gaskets.

If the gasket is bad, its bad no sealer is going to work, better to just change it, the sealer will work on the rear and main seal as long as they are not completely shot, and wipe the bottom of the bell, and notice where the stream is coming from.
