Default 1986 f150 4x4 motor issues

i have a 1986 f150 4x4 recently i changed the wornout 302 efi with a rebuit motor also i had the aoe tranny rebuit at the same time now the motor surges baddly and wont rev past 2200 rpm, up hills it wont even rev that far i have triple checked the timing replaced the plugs wires cap rotor fuel filter and the inline fuel pump (problem happens in both tanks) also i have made sure the cats/exhaust are clear and not pluged and finally i installed a jacobs ignition and coil nothing has helped so far i hope to be picking up a code reader in the next couple days but any suggestions on what to try in the meantime would be much appreciated

Check the vacuum to the MAP sensor and the connection on the TPS. I'd worry about the O2 sensor if these are repaired and it still come up. Check here too. http://www.troublecodes.net/Ford/

All these codes could mean something different depending on when received. As a KOEO, continuous, or KOER code. My guess is, operator error during WOT part of scan, for all but the O2 sensor error code. I agree w/ rtg! (& you got a book w/the scanner. Read it!)
