Angry 1984 Ford f150 not carging please help

I have this 1984 ford f150 that wont charge. The battery regulator and altanator were all purchased at parts america and test good. The fusible link tests good. I have power from the batery to the altenator replaced the ground wire and have no voltage on the field of the altanator. this is a three wire system the new altenator also has a (sta) which i think stands for stator connection but no wire to hook to it. When the altenator was tested new in the store they didnt hook up the sta post and it read that the charge was at about 14.5v. Can anyone help me.

The black wire with an orange stripe is power to the alternator, make sure it has power always.

Generally it's enough to have ground and initial power for alternator to start working.

Help my memory out guys. When did Ford go to the integral regulator. If this truck has the external regulator, unplug it, jumper the "F" and the "A" together. This will excite the alternator, rest is depending on whether the diodes are good in the "WYE" wound or "DELTA" wound (spelling) alternators. All Ford alternators have to have power at all times to the "A" terminal, as Sean said.

According to my wiring diagrams, the '84 has the external regulator. I'm just not exactly sure how it works, because there is only one wire from the regulator to the alternator. I would think there should be two, one in and one out. There is a red wire with a green stripe on the regulator that says "To ignition switch", so it must need to have power in run. The yellow wire with the white stripe goes to the ammeter, and the orange wire with a light blue stripe goes to the alternator.
