Default 1979 302v8 and 1989 m5odr2?

I'm 14, working on a project, and am in need of help. I bought a 1989 f150 to use as parts for my dads 1989 f150 witch I will be driving to high school. I've already restored the other truck aside from paint witch is coming soon. I stumbled across a 1979 302 v8 to replace the 4.9 i6 in the parts truck because I like carb better than efi, and in planning to strip it to the frame and make a rock crawler. I've already removed the cab and bed and most of front clip this past week and I need to know wether I can drop in a 1979 302 and pair it with the m5od. I know from the same year they will fit together no problem, but will the ten year age difference effect it? The link for the engine is below. Any other tips as far as tires or getting some minor sirface rust off the frame? https://columbia.craigslist.org/pts/5179901354.html
